a poem for my matisse...

Flat lines & even light
Colors
Pastel & bright
Hot
The yellow sun on her orange shirt
Red lips
Softly rouged cheeks
&
Green eyes
Those green eyes
Watching
&
Never the same
After hundreds & hundreds of miles in the night
A vase a lily lighted by blues - seas & purples
& heeling winds driving
The yellow moon on the orange sky
Never the same
After hundreds & hundreds of miles in the night
The salts on his brow - & the smells & the smells
The poet should care
- -
&
He did
