green eyes...

The poet's table
Wobbly
The yellow paint chipped & peeling
Down
On the street below
The street musician plays
It never entered my mind, ah,
Snapshots in ink overlooking overstreet
It is magic time
Down there
Out the poet's window
The Shine Cafe, the club's doors open
To the airless air
The red neon sign half broken
Flicker flicker buzz buzz
On the marquis
Lopsided & missing letters
A saxophone sound in the street
There
Where
The poet's red pen
Crisscrosses the moon
On the wings of mighty schooners
It
Crosses the orange sun
Rides
The shores of seas
& tambourines
&
Green eyes peering
Under
The beaded lampshade
Purple & blues
A black velvet cloth rests
The necklace
A dime spot of light on it
Jeweled with
Semi-precious stones from Mexico & China
Idaho
& the Missouri Breaks
&
Arkansas
A gift
On
Oh oh! a Fellini-Bergman journey
To Pope's Folly
To Reykjavik & to Nice in France
Oh oh! across the moon
&
The sun
& the shores of seas
& tambourines
