pensive poet...

after the storm...

sun drops from a tree
a quiet cool
like Mingus on piano
or breezes in the sail
coming out of a cove
to open ocean
and those sun drops from a tree
reading Ferlinghetti
on the road to Cuttyhunk
on the sea nineteen past.

a small poem...

a small poem
thinking of
a Modigliani
Matisse Van Gogh
the canvases
and
musicians
and
poets
the better hearts of the world
paint
and
soul,
deep heart.

the train far

the train far
winds and cool breezes blowing the leaves
branches idling then busting
more
tires road tracks paths ocean lanes
to Boston song
n
glow
Kerouac on the road with the poets
scorned then Elvis too
minimized today not Elvis though or Thoreau
but Kerouac and the poets giants
n
show
in copper color silos filled in life
and far.

Muhammad Ali...

courage mortal
a word words flutter
a smile
flick stick the shuffle
a hit
the game mortal
humanity mortal
injustices hatred destruction
all mortal
but those championship rounds
the greatest

the eyes smile alive kind heart
the truth immortal.
