the old upright...

The old upright
Scratched and moved
The piano
In a big room wood floors the dog barking
Keifer! bark, bark!
And tenor saxophone solos
Echo
Cough!
Aaahgh!
Stella
Stella
Wiiiish!
That glass full of bourbon Wiiiish! piano riffs
The upright
Black, a teak black mahogany paper gold trim
A framed photograph on top of it (Jack and his horn)
A painting on the wall (Miles doo-bop!)
That painting
"That painting should be hanging in a New York penthouse!!"
Jazz!!
A glass of Wild Turkey,
Clarice?
Decorate it
Drink rings cigarette burns in it
All over the valuable wood
Stained glass churches smile on this artifact
It's home
Its home
Here with Murray Jack Dave McKenna
Evening,
Clarice.
The old 1940s Everett and a twelve inch television set
Rejoice!
Keifer!
Bark,
Bark!
