the sloop, the muse sally sea...

Out
The Matisse open window
Boats
On a flower beach
On a flower sea
Sailing
To palm leaf Havana & her courtyards of paint
Oh!
The sloop, The Muse Sally Sea
Sails
In a tossing ocean against the current
Leaving the Philosophic & the Beautiful Landscapes
Rain & wind sun & moon
Buoys dint the hull walls
Fenders shield the bucking bow
& lyrics & jazz
& soul eyes go
To
Hear
Lester Young at Olivia's Patio Lounge
& visit
Clifford Brown's horn twice a week wherever it is
& on a low bench
Paintings & sketches are stacked pencils & brushes
A red pen & paper, some folded some crumpled
Pictures
&
Song
And on the bench too Matisse's book, Jazz
& black coffee black tea, breads & raspberry jam
The oil lamps rattle
&
Outside
All the easels fall over
She holds Van Gogh's letters tightly
- - a lovely storm
