9 january haiku...
Ice
& patches of macadam -
The mail came
Snow
2 storms within minutes -
The birdfeeder tilts
Gray rise
this morning -
I click send
Sun squares on the snow -
Reflecting
back to the moon
Sonny Stitt's saxophone
in the stars
in Alabama
& the starlight on the snow -
Sunny
moon
January jazz -
We
came home
The early sun
rides the wires -
This morning
Springsteen
Mellencamp -
At last
& patches of macadam -
The mail came

poem for a painting a la bonnard...
The table is color
Her arm blue
Bare
Her hand touching her face
Holding her face
Her eyes & mouth
Press
Her hair wrapped softly
She
Smells
Flowers
Fruits
Mint leafs
The cloth in front of her
The pictures in it
She does in her heart
Her arm blue
Bare
Her hand touching her face
Holding her face
Her eyes & mouth
Press
Her hair wrapped softly
She
Smells
Flowers
Fruits
Mint leafs
The cloth in front of her
The pictures in it
She does in her heart

"... choose our better history..." -President Obama
Faces a sea
On the National Mall
Buoyant
Reflecting
Ebullient
Seas over the land
For the country
Prayers
A prayer
A walk
Marble edifices
Revered
Flags
Lights flash lights
Waves waves waves
Calm our hearts
Sundance
What we are
The grandchildren say so
Today
We sang America
The grandchildren say so
- -
Solace to our souls
On the National Mall
Buoyant
Reflecting
Ebullient
Seas over the land
For the country
Prayers

A walk
Marble edifices
Revered
Flags
Lights flash lights
Waves waves waves
Calm our hearts
Sundance

a simple peace...
A simple peace
Today
Shining
He would have asked
Why not?
Much more eloquently though
But
Today
Why not?
A simple peace
- -
Our only choice
?
?

Why not?
Much more eloquently though
But
Today
Why not?

in the window...
In the window
Down the hill
A pirate's swan's
Breath on the pane
Oars in the alcove
Boats upright floor boards stacked
In the kitchen window
Matisse painted herself
Her breath on the pane too
Parrots & jabberwocky breaths & sighs
On the hill down to the ocean down to the town
She in the window painted up so
Rouged & rippled
Tough & sweet as powdered sugar
I hired her to write the pirate movie
